In The Intelligence Community We Trust

intelligence community

The intelligence “community” is popular with the never Trump crowd these days. Former CIA Director and Communist voter John Brennan says Trump’s behavior in Helsinki was “treasonous” and “impeachable.” The president did take Putin’s word over that of his own national intelligence director’s after all. (He changed his mind the next day with the old double negative apostrophe explanation.)

National intelligence directors didn’t always get the last word, though. James Clapper told The Senate Intelligence Committee that the NSA didn’t spy on phone calls of ordinary Americans. But ordinary Americans weren’t buying it and he later admitted, “it was the least untruthful statement he could make.”

Strzok Grilling

FBI agent Peter Strzok insisted he was able to ignore his bias against Trump while investigating him. But congressional Republicans weren’t buying it during a circus of hearing on Friday.

Strzok Grilling

U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tennessee, was so moved by Strzok’s grilling that he told him “If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would.”

No FBI Bias Here

FBI bias

Inspector General Michael Horowitz looked into the FBI investigation of Hilary Clinton’s email server. He released his report on Friday and testified before the House Judiciary Committee yesterday.

Some of his more interesting findings included text messages from lead FBI agent Peter Strzok. He referred to Hillary as the “future prez.” Strzok also said he would “stop Trump.” Still, the IG found no FBI bias in the investigation results.

No FBI Bias Here

Here’s Trey Gowdy asking how Jim Comey could draft an exonerating press release six weeks before the FBI’s interview with Hillary took place.

If you’ve got some time on your hands watch the entire I.G. hearing here on C Span:

NBA Finals All About The Refs

nab finals all about the refs

So far the NBA finals have been all about the refs. In game one they overturned a charging call against Kevin Durant and changed it to a blocking foul against LeBron James. Durant went on to sink both free throws and tie the game.

Collision Collusion

But charging calls are only reviewable if the chargee – LeBron in this case – is thought to have been in the restricted zone. He wasn’t, but once the investigation was open they went after him for a different violation. His feet weren’t sufficiently planted when he took the collision.

NBA Finals All About the Refs

The NBA issues a Two Minute report on the officials after it’s all over and not reviewable. They say the prosecutors..er..refs got the charging call right. But Draymond Green should have been called for a foul against LeBron with 12 seconds remaining. Not only that, Green committed a lane violation on George Hill’s missed free throw with 4 seconds left.

That’s an opportunity cost of three more free throws for the frustrated Cavs.

Thank You For Spying

spying

Eric Holder’s Justice Department threatened Fox News Reporter James Rosen as a co-conspirator under the espionage act. Except Holder never really intended to charge Rosen. It was all a pretext to spy on his phone calls and emails to find out who in the government was leaking information to him.

The Obama administration also spied on the phone records of Associated Press journalists.

More Spying

And of course they lied about spying on us too.

This week Joy Behar, of all people, outed James Clapper for spying on the Trump campaign. Clapper claimed Trump should be happy about this because his agent was really spying on Russians.

The Washington Post and New York Times find this explanation perfectly reasonable.
