“That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again. But until then, the only thing that the Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.”

“You can be civil but you can’t overcome what they do unless you win elections.” – Hillary Clinton

Political Insanity

Lance Morrow in Thursday’s WSJ makes the point that Trump is becoming normalized, or at least people are getting used to him. Some Never Trumpers are becoming Maybe Trumpers. And even though he’s still a monster to progressives, he’s becoming “a familiar monster.”

Political Insanity

He also sees less armchair diagnosis of the president’s mental state. And, besides, he says “Trump’s peculiarities don’t seem unusual when compared with the extreme bizarreness, not to say pathology, that is routine on the left.”

John Kass calls it “the farce of identity politics gone wild.”

Morrow says people are just tired of “politics as road rage.”

According to Rasmussen Voters disagree with Hillary’s endorsement of incivility while Republicans are in control.

Return to Civility

But, “unlike her, they don’t expect a return to civility if Democrats return to power in Congress.”

Trump denounces Democrats as an “angry mob.”

But Democrats insist they’re not a mob.

And Hillary says they’ll stop being a mob when they get back in power.

Roughing The Justice

Daniel Henninger says half the Senate Judiciary Committee created a new legal standard – “I believe Christine.”

This new standard for court nominees (and surely others in and outside politics) would be that judgment can be rendered in the absence of substantive argument or any legal standard relating to corroboration, cross-examination or presumption of innocence.

And Andrew McCarthy claims, “The real objective was not to destroy Kavanaugh but to convey what Democrats have in store for any conservative who seeks high public office.”

But you don’t have to be a conservative running for high office. Here’s a woman accusing a little boy of sexually assaulting her when he walked by with his mom.

The little boy was crying and couldn’t say if he was conservative or liberal.
