Urine Your Own

I’m warming up to federal judges on personal liberty. The Supreme Court of the United States seems skeptical that the federal government can mandate that you buy stuff (Obamacare). Justice Kennedy suggested that would fundamentally change the “relationship between an individual and the government”. He asked, “can you create commerce in order to regulate it”?

Last week, a federal judge in Florida, Ursula Ungaro, ruled that the state can’t mandate that you give stuff (your bodily fluids). She ordered Governor Rick Scott (for the second time) to keep his hands off other people’s urine. Here’s the story about the drug testing rule in Florida.

Crucifixion

EPA official Al Armendariz washed his hands of his Roman centurion approach to oil and gas executives.

“They’d go into a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them,” Armendariz continued. “And then you know that town was really easy to manage for the next few years. And so you make examples out of people who are in this case not compliant with the law.”

Arizona

While the Supreme Court hears oral arguments over the Arizona immigration law, a Pew study says more Mexican immigrants are leaving the U.S. than entering.

Amen

The president bonded with students over college loans.

The Feds took over the student loan market in 2010. Now Obama wants Congress to keep interest rates low so students and their parents can more easily go into debt to pay tuition.

Tuition has increased faster than fuel prices.

So far Obama hasn’t insisted that college president fat cats be hauled before Congress.

Right-Wing Extremist

The NYT reports that the Obama campaign wants to define Romney as a “right-wing extremist”. Could be extremism is no vice when “The Flipper” is accused of it by Democrats.
