Pajama Boy

131221-pajama-boyThe Obama Election Committee for Life, Organizing for Action, is promoting the joys of ObamaCare to young people. For Thanksgiving they urged the young invincibles to talk turkey about healthcare at family gatherings. For Christmas they introduced Pajama Boy when they tweeted this image while advising the faithful to:

Wear pajamas. Drink hot chocolate. Talk about Getting health insurance.

Pajama Boy

Pajama Boy was the instant butt of jokes all over the country. Which means he got millions in free publicity. Even on Bokbluster.

Odd Duck at Gay Wedding

Sometimes tolerance isn’t enough. Sometimes you have to bake a cake.

That’s what a Denver judge told the owner of a bakery who declined to make a cake for a gay wedding. The baker’s argument that same sex marriage violates his religious beliefs wasn’t good enough for the judge.

Odd Duck

A&E didn’t order Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson to bake a cake when he professed similar religious beliefs. The network suspended him indefinitely.

Jonah Goldberg notes that Duck Dynasty is a redneck reality show. Why wouldn’t Phil Robertson (even though he has a masters degree) be expected to have redneck attitudes?

“Duck Dynasty” has been a huge ratings success, receiving fawning coverage from the elite media. Much of the coverage has also been incredibly condescending, like aristocrats in Victorian London having a grand time inviting a Zulu tribesman to dinner. Everyone says, “Look at the funny rednecks,” until Robertson says something that you would absolutely expect to hear from a guy who plays a redneck on TV.

Camille Paglia calls “this is level of punitive PC, utterly fascist, utterly Stalinist”.

Which brings me back to Jonah Goldberg and his excellent book “Liberal Fascism“.

Mandela

131207-mandela-moral-authority-popeI heard Vatican analyst John Allen suggest that world moral authority would pass from Nelson Mandela to Pope Francis. If you like your moral authority you can keep your moral authority…

Interesting to consider that two of the world’s most humble guys would also be the most popular.

Humility does have it’s limits, though. While he pope ditched the red shoes, Mandela wore cool shirts to the end

JFK and a Silly Little Communist

131123 oswald-silly-little-communistKennedy Week was a very good week for Ira Stoll’s book Kennedy, Conservative. He makes the case that JFK was an anti-communist supply sider and would be a conservative today.

Maybe. Most of the other 11 year olds I knew in those days were anti-communist too. Not so sure about the supply side part – my peer-group wasn’t up to speed on tax policy. A quick look at Youtube, however, does show Kennedy was for tax cuts to increase employment and cut the deficit.

He was also in favor of civil rights. At least his wife thought so:

“He didn’t even have the satisfaction of being killed for civil rights. It’s — it had to be some silly little Communist.”

Jacqueline Kennedy, Nov. 22, 1963

Which brings us to this piece by Rich Lowry. He complains that James McAuley, in a NYT oped, pins the murder on “Dallas, a city of hate with a death wish in its eye”. (Now we know who shot JR.) Manny Fernanez, also in the NYT, blames it on an “angry anti-Washington culture”.

I think President Kennedy was swell but where can I sign up for this Angry Anti-Washington Culture?

JFK and A Silly Little Communist

The real conspiracy about the Kennedy Assassination is the myth built by the left that sinister right wing forces cut down the young president – when it was really just a silly little Communist.

Camelot

131122-camelot-demsThe MSM took our rulers on a pilgrimage to Camelot this week.

The first black president, along with the ersatz first black president, honored the first Catholic president on the 50th anniversary of his assassination.

President Clinton, earlier in the week, honored President Obama by telling him to stop lying about ObamaCare.

Red State Democrats ran away.
