Bipartisan Bully Boys
Obama charged up the San Juan Hill of class warfare with an hour long stemwinder in Kansas yesterday. Meanwhile, Bull Moose Gingrich came out to Glenn Beck as a Teddy Roosevelt Republican.
We Are Not Worthy
Obama thinks you’re soft and lazy. Once again you have let him down. Or, as Rich Lowry puts it, “The president’s “lazy” comment is one of a series of remarks carrying an undercurrent of disapproval of the country he is so luckless to govern.”
Back in September Shelby Steele looked at the bigger picture by examining Obama’s distaste for American exceptionalism. Steele defines exceptionalism as the result of a “difficult rigor” based on individual initiative and responsibility.
“Anti-exceptionalism has clearly shaped his “leading from behind” profile abroad—an offer of self-effacement to offset the presumed American evil of swaggering cowboyism”
“At home the values that made us exceptional have been smeared with derision.”
“As a president, Barack Obama has been a force for mediocrity. He has banked more on the hopeless interventions of government than on the exceptionalism of the people. His greatest weakness as a president is a limp confidence in his countrymen. He is afraid to ask difficult things of them.”
In other words he’s just not that into you.
Open Mic
Sarkozy and Obama had one of those open mic moments at the G-20 Summit in France. Sarkozy called Benjamin Netanyahu a liar and Obama complained that he has to deal with him everyday.
Baby Talk
Obama has warned that, if he is defeated, Republicans will leave you “on your own“. This is a bad thing? It is if you’r building the Nanny State.
Speaking of Change, last Thursday was Diaper Need Awareness Day in the state of Connecticut. It was a day for the diaper lobby to call attention to the needs of the diaper disadvantaged. The holiday prompted Mark Steyn to recall that the government already provides “adult baby” Stanley Thornton Jr. with income disability checks so he can wear a giant diaper, while laying around in a giant crib, under the attention of a buxom nanny. Apparently there are actual adults whose fetish for pooping their pants is now a federally recognized disability. Steyn considers this “almost too poignant an emblem of the republic at twilight”.
As usual, Homeland Security has been far ahead of the curve on this issue.
One Percent Pander
In an ABC interview with Jake Tapper last night, Obama reached out to the Occupy Wall Street crowd and called for a more “egalitarian” society.
No word yet on a bail-out for Wall Street’s investment in Obama.
Update: It turns out the president is still raking The Street.
