Russian Election Hacking

Russian

In 2012 President Obama told Russian President Medvedev he would be much more flexible after the election. Obama thought his remarks were private but he was speaking into an open mic in front of tv cameras.

Lucky for him, there was no Republican narrative of Russian election hacking in 2012. It might have seemed plausible, considering the fact that Obama repeatedly mocked Romney for insisting that Russia was our number one enemy. Also, in 2009, Obama halted a missile defense system in Poland and The Czech Republic. Romney described that act as “a gift to Russia.”

Russian Hacking

If the Russians had any incentive to hack a U.S. election, 2012 would seem to be the ticket. After that election they felt comfortable enough to invade Crimea without fear of U.S. sanctions. Obama only got tough with Russia on his way out the door in December 2016. He imposed sanctions after Hillary lost and the Russians were accused of hacking John Podesta’s emails. Which, btw, is the only reason we know Donna Brazile fed debate questions to Hillary.

Those sanctions are the ones Michael Flynn is accused of discussing in December with the Russian ambassador. We know about that, not through an open mic, but from leaked classified U.S. intelligence.

1980s Are Calling

1980s are calling

In a 2012 presidential debate Romney claimed Russia was the biggest threat to the United States. Obama mocked him saying, “The 1980s are calling and they want their foreign policy back.”

The Donald Still Feels The Judge Has it In For Him

The Donald still feels the judge has it in for him

The federal government has sued Trump University for fraud. Donald Trump is taking heat for calling the judge in the case a Mexican. Judge Curiel was born in Indiana. The Donald still feels the judge has it in for him. Curiel is ethnically Hispanic and a member of La Raza.

Jim Geraghty in National Review says Curiel doesn’t appear to be an activist.

Ben Stein says judges aren’t above bias and that Trump is “totally right”.

Democrats and some Republicans are calling him racist.

Stuart Taylor thinks the really troubling thing is that Trump seemed to threaten the judge with the power of the presidency if he is elected.

In 2010 President Obama said Latinos should “punish our enemies and reward our friends.” He also scolded Supreme Court justices during a State of the Union speech for the Citizens United ruling.

The Stop Trump Man

stop trump

Mitt Romney is leading the charge to stop Trump. He kinda sorta endorsed Ted Cruze in the hope of denying The Donald a win on the first ballot in Cleveland.

Trump endorsed Romney when he was the nominee in 2012. He lost anyway, or as The Donald says, “choked”.

Romney says he’s “repulsed” by Trumpism. Trump, campaigning in Utah, questioned whether Mitt is Morman.

Living Breathing Constitution

Scalia once said, “The constitution is not an organism. It’s a legal text.” He didn’t believe in a living breathing constitution. Obama does.

Alive or dead, the constitution gives Obama the right to appoint a successor to Scalia. It also gives the Senate the right to ignore him or turn him down. Obama agreed with that back when he was opposed to executive overreach. As a senator, he called Alito un-American and filibustered Bush’s appointment of him.

At the time, Obama told ABC News that he supported the filibuster”because I think Judge Alito, in fact, is somebody who is contrary to core American values, not just liberal values.” Obama said the court needed to “provide some check on the executive branch, and he has not shown himself willing to do that repeatedly.”

Could be a campaign theme. Here’s Joe Biden with the 2012 campaign theme.
