Hillary and Trump on 9/11

151022-9/11Hillary told Chelsea, via email on the night of 9/11 2012, that the Benghazi attack was a planned terrorist attack. Yet two days later Suzan Rice appeared on 5 Sunday talk shows claiming it was an angry reaction to a movie. Hillary then promised parents of the dead she would hunt down the movie maker.

9/11

Dr. Krauthammer says, “We’re living in an age where what you say and its relation to the facts are completely irrelevant.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is driving Dan Henninger up a wall at the WSJ by implying George W. Bush was responsible for the original 9/11:

Just as Mr. Trump suggested responsibility for 9/11 lies somehow with former President Bush, Mrs. Clinton’s view has been that responsibility for the failure in Benghazi is so diffuse that no one is responsible, that asking questions about what happened is a political attempt to “come after me. ” …

What a spectacle it would be to have America’s highest office contested next year between these two.

Scott Walker Snaps Out

150923-scott-walkerNow there are fifteen.

Scott Walker followed the lead of Rick Perry and shut down his campaign. He said we was helping clear the field so a positive conservative message can rise to the top. Supporters thought he would be the one to deliver that message. Between the Donald and the other candidates in the debates he couldn’t get a word in edgewise.

There are other views.

Michael Barone thinks the Republican party now appeals to people beyond traditional conservatives, libertarians, and evangelicals. That might explain Trump, Fiorina, and Carson. And the demise of Walker.

Mark Steyn called him a “performing seal”.

Fiorina Face Time

The consensus seems to be that Carly Fiorina, JV champ of the first Republican debate, was the winner of the second varsity debate.

Interestingly she did it on different sides of women’s issues. She roughed up The Donald implying he insulted all women by making fun of her appearance. Then she attacked federal funding for Planned Parenthood calling its trade in fetal body parts a question of “the character of our nation”.

Trump/Sanders Dream Ticket

150817-dream-ticketA 72 year old Vermont socialist from Brooklyn draws huge crowds for speeches. The Donald insults Megyn and Mexicans and still leads a strong Republican field in the polls.

Glenn Reynolds, in USA TODAY says the voters are fed up with the ruling class in both parties:

The rise — and, for that matter, the fall, if fall it is — of Trump is an indictment of the GOP establishment and, for that matter, of the American political establishment in general.

On many issues, ranging from immigration reform, which many critics view as tantamount to open borders, to bailouts for bankers, the Republican and Democratic establishments agree, while a large number (quite possibly a majority) of Americans across the political spectrum feel otherwise.

Dream Ticket

Is Trump/Sanders a third party dream ticket for frustrated voters?

They both say the government’s unemployment numbers are a “crock“. The official 5.3% rate doesn’t take into account the 90 million who have given up looking for work. Sanders says the real unemployment number is north of 10%. Trump places it at 20%. Nick Gillespie, in a Daily Beast piece titled “The Pissed Off Primary”, notes they both hate Immigration and China, but in the end they’re more demagogues than candidates.

Megyn vs The Donald

15081-megyn-vs-The-Donald

Donald Trump bitched about Megyn Kelly’s debate questions by way of saying she “had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever”.

That comment took me back to 1979 BP (Before Political-correctness) when Dan Akroyd debated Jane Curtin on SNL.
