Students and their parents are nearly a trillion dollars in hock over college tuition according to the WSJ.

 

Union Dues

The Wisconsin public service unions didn’t spaz out because teachers would have to pay a little more for their health care. It was because the state is no longer the bag man for their dues. Given a free choice, union members have been running for the exits. The State, County, and Municipal employees union membership is down by half, the American Federation of Teachers is down by a third.

 

 

Commencement

Dana Milbank reports that our first black, Pacific, gay, woman president elbowed aside a real woman (Jill Abramson, the first female executive editor of the NYT) to give the commencement address at Barnard. Meanwhile a NYT/CBS poll showed Romney ahead of Obama with women voters.

Amen

 

The president bonded with students over college loans.

The Feds took over the student loan market in 2010. Now Obama wants Congress to keep interest rates low so students and their parents can more easily go into debt to pay tuition.

Tuition has increased faster than fuel prices.

So far Obama hasn’t insisted that college president fat cats be hauled before Congress.

None of us is free until the lowliest contraceptive is free. Or something like that. Senator Patty Murray explains why the lack of a free lunch, contraceptive-wise, amounts to a Republican attack on women.

Speaking of free lunch, no doubt you’ve heard about the HHS Bureaucrat who made a North Carolina 4 year old eat chicken nuggets instead of the healthy turkey sandwich, banana, and apple juice the child’s mother had packed. Except it may not be completely true. Which is unfortunate, because I got up at 4 a.m. to draw this. It turns out a teacher may have served up the nuggets.
