Here She Comes, Sans Swimsuit, Miss America
It started out as a bathing beauty pageant to keep tourists hanging around Atlantic City after Labor Day. But now Miss America is dropping its swimsuit competition. It was a hundred year old institution. And Gretchen Carlson thinks its time has passed. But the Miss America franchise itself will continue, sans swimsuit.
Speaking of sans swimsuit, Playboy – also long in the tooth – dropped its nude photos a while back. They thought people really would read it for the articles. They were wrong.
We’ll soon learn if people will watch Miss America to get to know “who the person is and their goals and substance.”
No word yet on if the competition will be open to men.

Saturday Night Live had a Weekend Update sketch in the 70s called Point/Counterpoint. It starred Dan Akroyd and Jane Curtin playing pompous journalists debating the news. And it always degenerated into personal insults. Like this opening rebuttal remark by Akroyd: “Jane, you ignorant slut.”
It was almost as funny as the Claudine Longet Ski Invitational. Lorne Michaels had to apologize for that one.

And so did Samantha Bee, for a crude crack she made this week about Ivanka Trump. But, like SNL, she’s still on the air. For now.

Roseanne got fired for making a racist tweet. But she didn’t just get herself fired. The intemperate tweeter may have cost hundreds of others their jobs too. She blamed .
Michael Cohen Swamp Fox
Looks like Michael Cohen could afford to pay Stormy Daniels $130,000. Though, based on past behavior, I wonder if he first tried to sell her access to the president for a future “encounter.”

According to The Hill he tried to hit up the Qatari government for a cool million in exchange for access. Also on Cohen’s client access list were Novartis and ATT.
It’s the way of the swamp. But not illegal.
