Impeachment Express Secret Testimony
Past impeachment inquiries were handled by the House Judiciary Committee. But Nancy Pelosi snatched that job from Jerry Nadler and gave it to Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff. Now he’s taking whistle blower testimony in secret and the Impeachment Express is on track to take down Trump.
Pelosi runs the railroad but she’s a reluctant impeacher. She says nobody comes to Congress to impeach a president,
Well, almost nobody. And now Nancy’s on board to impeach The Motherf***r
Rebuttal
Nancy Pelosi is offended that Republicans won’t tear themselves away from the game tonight to complain about Obama’s speech.
Staying Power
Nancy Pelosi seems to think nothing is changing except her job title – from “Speaker of the House” to “Minority Leader”. Not all members of her party are going with the flow. Mike Quigley of Illinois tells the Boston Globe she’s “politically toxic”.
My political pledge – no more melting metaphors. UPDATE: Here’s a good explainer by David Broder about how the Democratic leadership changed its rules to avoid change.
First Amendment vs. First Amendment
Pelosi wants an investigation of first amendment stomping Ground Zero Mosque protesters. Nat Hentoff is investigating the man behind the mosque, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf. Hentoff, a powerful defender of the first amendment, doesn’t care for the location of Cordoba House either. Here’s his column.
The New Republic’s Todd Gitlin thinks the mosque is swell. Both writers take a look at the Imam’s book, What’s Right with Islam is What’s Right with America, and his claim that Islamic law fits the U.S. Constitution. Here’s Gitlin’s column.
Campaign Slogan Tryouts
Robert Gibbs said Republicans could win the House. Pelosi slammed Gibbs. Joe Biden claimed, “we’re going to win the House and the Senate”. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D., N.J.) felt compelled to announce “…an end to a growing rumor that the president doesn’t want the House, only the Senate, and feels he can get more done with a split Congress…” . Jonathan Weisman and Naftali Bendavid have the story in the WSJ.
