Hillary’s Secret
Hillary is turning her home brew email server over to the FBI. They say it contained top secret emails. The documents weren’t encrypted. If the FBI really wanted to know what was on Hillary’s server all they had to do was ask the Chinese.
Ben Bernanke’s Money
What good is quantitative easing if Ben Bernanke can’t get a loan? The former Fed chairman confided last week that he was unable to refinance his $850,000 home mortgage. It’s true he’s out of a job but ex-government swells are never out of the money. Bernanke is still making the stuff from thin air (or hot air) by cranking out speeches at more than $200,000 a pop.
Helicopter Ben Bernanke
IBD notes that even Barney Frank now lays some blame on the government for the 2008 banking crisis. It forced banks to lend to risky home buyers and now Dodd Frank is overcorrecting by putting the clamps on the banking industry. Banks have been forced to close branches to pay penalties. They’re sitting on piles of free money but they’re reluctant to lend, even to Helicopter Ben.
In that same speech he also discussed how the government can always avoid deflation by printing more dollars and referred to a statement made by Milton Friedman, a Nobel Prize winning economist, about using a helicopter drop of money to fight deflation. Since then, Bernanke has had the nickname of “Helicopter Ben.”
Olympic Flameout
Finland sent the Russian Olympic hockey team home today without a medal. Oh wait they are home.
Last night Ukraine went up in flames. So I drew this cartoon. President Obama drew this red line. Again.
Olympic Flameout Update:
Putin doesn’t make the medal round in Ukraine protests. USA flames out against Canada and then lays an enormous goose egg against Finland 5-0.
Leading from behind fails again.
Nuclear Option
Harry Reid pulled the trigger on the so-called Nuclear Option on Thursday. The move changed a 200 year old rule that allowed filibusters against presidential appointments. Now the Senate can confirm nominees with a simple majority. That can happen with a straight party line vote – the same way ObamaCare was passed.
As usual, hypocrisy is non-partisan here. The Republicans threatened the same thing when President Bush was having trouble getting his judicial nominations confirmed in the Senate.
Nuclear Option
Here are some strong arguments against the Nuclear Option – from Harry Reid, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.
