Elizabeth Warren

Some people consider Elizabeth Warren to be the un-Hillary candidate for the 2016 Democratic nomination. Bob Schieffer had her on Face the Nation for an interview. The question on everyone’s mind – well, at least on Bob s mind – was, “are you a socialist?” So he asked her. She expressed dismay and wondered where people get their ideas about her.

During the campaign for her Massachusetts Senate seat it came to light that the blue eyed blonde had checked the NativeAmerican box as a law professor at Harvard.

Campus Speech

Well, at least the Harvard Black Mass didn’t happen Monday night.

The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club invited the devil himself to campus. Lucifer’s speaking gig was arranged in conjunction with the New York Satanic Temple. The event was to take place in the form of a Satanic Black Mass. Joining the Prince of Darkness at the lectern was to be Harvard professor Christopher Robichaud. According to USA Today Robichaud planned to remark on religious liberty.

Not surprisingly, Catholics were outraged and the thing was moved off campus under a storm of protest. At the last moment it was cancelled altogether.

In April Brandeis University cancelled altogether its offer of an honorary doctorate for Ayaan Hirsi Ali. She writes and speaks about real religious liberty and the real war on women in Muslim countries. She’s also a critic of Islam itself. Condoleeza Rice was driven away from her Rutgers University speech by unhinged faculty members and their poorly informed students accusing her of war crimes. IMF boss Christine Legarde was also disinvited from her speaking engagement at Smith University.

I’m not equating disinviting Legarde, Rice, or Ali to disinviting Satan. I’m equating academics to nuts.

In a column about the lack of due process in college, Thomas Sowell discusses “free speech” zones on campus:

The track record of academics in other kinds of cases is not the least bit encouraging as regards the likelihood of impartial justice. Even on many of our most prestigious college campuses, who gets punished for saying the wrong thing and who gets away with mob actions depends on which groups are in vogue and which are not.

This is carried to the point where some colleges have established what they call “free speech zones” — as if they are granting a special favor by not imposing their vague and arbitrary “speech codes” everywhere on campus.

The irony in this is that the Constitution already established a free speech zone. It covers the entire United States.

Benghazi Select Committee

Trey Gowdy will is ringmaster for the House select committee on Benghazi. Republicans on previous committees haven’t been able to resist the TV cameras.

Koch Addict

Dana Milbank says, “The time has come to stop the denial and to admit that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a Koch problem.” The Koch (pronounced “coke”) brothers donate millions to conservative and libertarian political causes. To Harry Reid that makes them “immoral and unAmerican. He thinks they have Republicans hooked. Here’s a link to a YouTube montage posted by Washington Free Beacon in which Reid mentions the Kochs 134 times.

I think I’m developing a Harry Reid habit.

Update: Whacked out Harry chasing greased GOP pigs!

Update: Harry says Kochs caused global warming!

Ben Rhodes Benghazi Memo

The White House was forced to cough up another Benghazi memo this week because of a FOIA request by Judicial Watch. The memo written by Ben Rhodes urged staffers to emphasize the line that the 9/11/2012 Benghazi attack was caused by an anti-Muslim movie and not a failure of policy. The attack killed a US ambassador and 3 others. At the time the president was bragging that he had decimated al Qaeda. The White House feared news of a planned terror attack would tarnish the president’s campaign theme. Rhodes and others prepped Susan Rice for 5 Sunday talk shows with the message that a demonstration against the video got out of hand, causing the violence in the Benghazi compound.

This Catherine Herridge report shows General Robert Lovell testifying that there were no ant-video demonstrations preceding the Benghazi attack.

Benghazi Memo

Charles Krauthammer says the release of the Rhodes e-mail is up there with the discovery of the Nixon tapes.

Last night Bret Baier asked National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor if he changed Susan Rice’s talking points from terror “attack” to “demonstrations” protesting a video. Spokesman Vietor replied, “Dude, this was like two years ago.”
