Sales Tax
Local merchants, big companies, Democrats, and Republicans are overcoming their differences to come together in support of the Marketplace Fairness Act.
Uh oh.
Brick and mortars complain about being shopped and having to charge sales tax but they don’t mention shipping costs on internet sales. Besides, what’s that got to do with it? I heard somewhere life isn’t fair.
It doesn’t seem fair that Ohio considers me a chattel with a claim on my actions when I make a purchase in another state.
Overruled
Senate testimony last week, from outgoing Defense Secretary Panetta and Joint Chiefs chairman General Dempsey, revealed that neither Obama or Hillary answered the 3 a.m. alarm on the night Ambassador Stevens was murdered in Benghazi. Panetta and Dempsey briefed the president on the situation that night at 5 p.m. Obama left the matter up to them and wasn’t heard from again until he flew to Vegas the next day and blamed the attack on a video maker.
Also it was learned that the president overruled advice from the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, CIA Director, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to arm fighters in Syria.
Mad Dogs and Lap Dogs: 60 Minutes
President Obama doesn’t like dissent and he didn’t get much of it when he appeared with Hillary for a slobbery 60 Minutes interview. The president requested the interview with Steve Kroft because, as Kroft told Piers Morgan, …“he knows we’re not going to play gotcha”.
In another interview with the owner of The New Republic (also a former fundraiser), Obama trashed Fox News – again.
And here’s a Connor Friedersdorf column from the Atlantic about Steve Kroft’s “softball interviews”.
Bachelor Degree
This is an editorial cartoon I did for the Tampa Bay Times. Florida Governor Rick Scott, taking a page from the Texas playbook, is challenging state colleges to offer 4 year degrees for $10,000.
