Better Off
Dems have struggled with the “are you better off” question. Martin O’Malley, the governor of Maryland answered “no”, switched to yes, and was blown off the bridge of death.
46.7 million Americans were on food stamps in June, but things weren’t so hot 4 years ago either. Here’s a chart from the Atlantic that tracks private sector jobs since Obama came to power.
Neil Armstrong
Not that I have anything against 90 inch HD flat screens. It’s just that it was so cool to watch the old tube as Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface (or the Arizona desert, if you’re so inclined) and then to go outside and look at the moon and comprehend that he was really there. Wikipedia has a chart (sourced to OMB) that shows NASA’s budget, as a percentage of federal spending, peaked at 4.41% in 1966 while 2011 spending was down to .53%
Before The Fall
The president is threatening that there’s more where the auto bail-out came from.
Meanwhile a Congressional Budget Office report says a walk off the fiscal cliff will plunge the economy back into recession.
Drought
President Obama was in Iowa trying to give tax money to the wealthy. He wants us t0 ” ‘put politics aside’ and give farmers their money”. Ten percent of farmers get 74% of all farm subsidies. Forty percent of the U.S. corn crop is used to make federally mandated ethanol.
Old White Guys
Old white guy Harry Reid really did say that during the 2008 election. Another old white guy, Joe Biden, told a largely black audience last night, “they’re gonna put y’all in chains”. No wonder Democrats seem obsessed with old white guys.
