Speechless in Berkeley
A generation ago UC Berkeley was considered the home of the free speech movement. Now students and imported thugs riot there to silence speakers they don’t like.
Speechless
Last week the university cancelled a speech by Ann Coulter. The school claimed it couldn’t assure her safety. She vowed to speak anyway but backed out yesterday.
Update 4/29:
Apparently anti-free speech protestors are pro-free massage. They got free rubdowns in the “Empathy Tent” at the sans Coulter event.
Federal Funding Sanctuary Cities
President Trump cracked down on sanctuary cities. He ordered restrictions on federal funding to cities that refuse to turn over undocumented immigrants to the feds. Federal District Court Judge William Orrick, blocked his order.
Last year President Obama threatened to pull federal funding from schools that don’t provide transgender restroom facilities. Trump revoked that rule in February.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had sued over the bathroom issue on the grounds that Obama had bypassed congressional authority. Judge Orick used the same reasoning to block Trump’s sanctuary order.
Obama Wall Street Fat Cats Speech
Barack is back. He will give a speech to the Wall Street firm Cantor Fitzgerald in September. HIs fee? $400,000. The same amount as his annual salary as president.
President Obama had harsh words (at no extra charge) for Wall Street bankers in 2009. He called them “fat cats who don’t get it.”
Elizabeth Warren isn’t happy.
Shattered Clinton Campaign
Jonathan Allen and Amy Barnes have written a new book about the Hillary Clinton campaign. It’s called Shattered . Haven’t read it but I’ve read about it.
Clinton Campaign
Clinton campaign officials gave the authors inside access in exchange for agreeing not to publish until after the election. Which the officials expected to win. It turns out the campaign officials were frustrated with the candidate. She couldn’t decide why she wanted to be president.
I looked up a list of 84 campaign slogans she tried on for size. I picked the ones I could fit on hats.
Bill O’Reilly Sexual Harassment Retirement Party
Bill O’Reilly joined Roger Ailes in enforced retirement on Wednesday. Both were accused of sexual harassment.
Not to worry though. CNN Money says O’Reilly’s golden parachute falls just a little south of the $25 million contract he recently signed. That compares to his former boss’s $40 million bail out.
Bill O’Reilly Sexual Harassment Charges Lift All Boats
Also, there’s a trickle down payout effect. The NYT says O’Reilly and Fox paid about $13 million to various women who accused him of sexual harassment. He admits nothing.
Still, Fox gave him the boot.
