Export / Import
Boeing and GE have stopped contributing to politicians who oppose the Export / Import Bank. Both companies get subsidized loans from the bank to help them export their products. No stranger to crony capitalism, GE CEO Jeff Immelt threatened to move jobs out of the country if th Ex/Im is closed. Imelt moonlights as Obama’s Jobs Czar.
The Donald Evolves
David Harsanyi at the Federalist thinks the first Republican debate was awesome. I agree. The field looked strong all the way down to Carly Fiorina on the JV team.
Then there’s The Donald. He refused a pledge not to pull a Ross Perot if doesn’t win the nomination. Why give up the leverage, he reasoned. Makes sense I guess. And he said he made Hillary attend his wedding by giving her money. Also believable.
When asked how he came to change his views on taxes and abortion he said he evolved.
Knee Jerk Partisan
The President of the U.S. said this week that anyone opposed to his Iran deal is a “knee jerk partisan no different than those who say Death to America”.
His negotiating partner, the supreme leader of Iran, says, “Death to America“.
Rich Lowry says the deal isn’t a treaty because a treaty requires a two thirds vote in the Senate for approval. This deal is rigged to require a two thirds vote for disapproval.
Apparently Chuck Schumer now says, “Death to America!”
Kasich Boots Texan For Fox News Debate
Ohio governor John Kasich entered the fray for the Republican nomination two weeks ago. The Buckeye Gov displaced Texas Governor Rick Perry for the last spot in tonight’s Fox News debate in Cleveland.
Cecil Saves Planned Parenthood
Cecil the Lion chased baby body parts off the front page. The Planned Parenthood scandal isn’t popular with the Washington Elite. The Obama administration thinks Planned Parenthood adheres to the the highest ethical standards for fetus crunching. The Senate had no stomach for defunding the organization.
It wasn’t just the lion story. As of July 24 Michael Barone says there were 773 stories about the confederate flag compared to 31 on the Planned Parenthood video.
