Wuss Nation
Pennsylvania’s governer, Ed Rendell, was moved to pronounce us a “nation of wussies” when the Vikings and Eagles played the first Tuesday night NFL game in 64 years, on account of snow. He may have a point. It was the second snow-out this year for the Minnesota Vikings.
President Obama also got into the act by calling the Eagles’ owner to pat him on the back for giving Michael Vick a second chance.
Both man’s best friend and the Purple People Eaters achieved a measure of revenge when the Vikings won 24-14.
The Tingle is Back
The president had a December to remember and those who cover him let him know it. Got the idea for this one from Dana Milbank’s Washington Post column,”Obama the Great – if he does say so himself”.
Centerpiece
“I’ve been struck by the speed and decisiveness of his move to the center,” Will Marshall, of the Progressive Policy Institute, said of Obama – in June of 2008! Now that he’s taken over health care, autos, and the internet, could Bam be at it again? Carl Leubsdorf, in the Dallas Morning News, says Democratic presidents have to move to the center to survive.
Federal Power
A federal judge ruled that the federal government doesn’t have the power to make you go out and buy something you otherwise wouldn’t – health care in this case. The government claims its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce gives it the right to do just that.
Nat Hentoff doesn’t think any clause of the constitution gives the government the right to assassinate its own citizens who become jihadists.
