Urine Your Own

I’m warming up to federal judges on personal liberty. The Supreme Court of the United States seems skeptical that the federal government can mandate that you buy stuff (Obamacare). Justice Kennedy suggested that would fundamentally change the “relationship between an individual and the government”. He asked, “can you create commerce in order to regulate it”?

Last week, a federal judge in Florida, Ursula Ungaro, ruled that the state can’t mandate that you give stuff (your bodily fluids). She ordered Governor Rick Scott (for the second time) to keep his hands off other people’s urine. Here’s the story about the drug testing rule in Florida.

Secret Service Code

Actually, I guess he doesn’t have sleeves.

Fairness Doctrine

In a 2008 debate, Charlie Gibson asked Barack Obama if he would raise capital gains rates knowing it would cause a decrease in federal revenue. The Occupy White House candidate said,”yes”. Out of fairness.

The Buffet Rule is supposed to force all millionaires to pay a minimum 30% rate, but, according to IBD, the seven figure set could still shift their wealth to tax free municipal bonds.

Buffett Rule or not, the fattest fat cats still pay, by far, the most income taxes.

AG Eric Holder announced, that under certain conditions, it would be quite all right to kill American citizens overseas.

Conor Friedersdorf at The Atlantic picked up on this, but why do I think if Bush had said it the legacy media would have given it considerably more attention? True, the WSJ likes the policy. But where’s the outrage we heard concerning mere electronic spying on mere non-American citizens who happened to call or email Americans?

Elephant Trap

“What even minimally rational government enacts payroll-tax relief for just two months?” Krauthammer’s glad you asked.
