It’s a Surprise
Chris Dodd and Nancy Pelosi explain here that you have to pass their 2000 page bills to find out what’s in them.
William Saletan has an interesting piece in Slate detailing how Kagan, while working in the Clinton White House, doctored a report on partial birth abortion by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynocologists. He points out that the report was taken as expert opinion in court rulings. If she gets on the Supreme Court and overturns a ruling because it was based on her original lie, would that make her an activist judge?
Process
The president insisted it was important to pass Obamacare and not get hung up on “process” when Bret Baier asked him if he supported “deeming” the Senate bill into law. Here’s a Peggy Noonan column about the process of getting answers from Obama.
Strange Bedfellows
Pelosi is considering a plan put forward by Louise Slaughter, chairwoman of the House Rules Committee . It would allow the Senate Health Care Bill to be “deemed” to have passed. Then the House would make amendments to it and pass the new bill. They would be able to pass 2 bills with one vote. Kind of like using the same dollar twice for medicare and the health care. Here’s a Washington Post story explaining the gambit.
Rationing
Here’s a column by a radiologist in Human Events that says later breast cancer screening saves money not lives and that it’s a preview of government healthcare.
