FBI and IRS Tea Party

140116-irs-fbi-tea-partyBack in June a House committee wanted answers about IRS efforts to indimidate and silence Tea Party Groups. Lois Lerner, the IRS Director of Exempt Organizations took the fifth. There was very little Tea Party involvement in the campaign 2012 campaign. President Obama was re-elected.

The FBI has now declared “no harm no foul”, as Dan Henninger puts it.

Thus, two of the most powerful public institutions in the U.S.—the FBI and the IRS—have concluded no harm, no foul, and the memory hole swallows the Obama administration’s successful kneecapping of the GOP’s most active members just as they prepared to participate in the 2012 presidential campaign. Many—ruined or terrified by the IRS probes—shut down. Mr. Obama won.

I Have a Pen Speech

140114-pen-recess-appointmentPresident Obama gave his I Have a Pen Speech yesterday. He waved his pen and said he also has a phone.

He then warned Congress that if it doesn’t do his bidding he would have his way by executive order. He would do that with the pen. He would use the phone to rally “non-profit and private sector support” for his agenda.

He didn’t mention recess appointments. In 2012 he declared the Senate in recess, even though the Senate said it was not. He then used the self-proclaimed recess to appoint 2 new members to the National Labor Relations board without Senate approval.

The Supreme Court is not looking kindly on the maneuver.

Health Care from Hell

140113-insurance-deal-health-care-from-hellInsurance companies thought they had a deal made in ..well I’m not sure. They were promised millions of new customers by the Affordable Care Act. But then the website went bad, policy holders lost their policies, and patients lost their doctors. President Obama began a divine re-write of the health care from hell law in ways that imposed unexpected costs on insurers. Now it looks like taxpayers will be condemned to a bailout.

Light Bulb Ban

140103-bulbsquad-light-bulb-banIt’s 2014 and, thanks to President Bush, the creation of incandescent light bulbs is now banned.

Will mercury contamination from EPA mandated fluorescent lightbulbs become the lead paint issue of the future?

Light Bulb Ban

A story in the Washington Examiner blames the light bulb ban on a conspiracy between big makers of the low margin bulbs and government.

Individual Mandate Unravels

The latest Friday document dump featured another ObamaCare proclamation. If your insurance was canceled because it was a substandard bad apple you can buy another substandard bad apple plan. Or you can take a one year break from the individual mandate and go without.

The WSJ headlined, “Obama Repeals ObamaCare”

Dick Morris claims ObamaCare is dead because the unraveling will accelerate next year when group plans are canceled.
