Greatest National Security Threat
Not only is climate change our greatest national security threat. It causes terrorism. Trust me.
ISIS Nuisance
John Kerry thinks terrorists might have had cause for murdering cartoonists but the attack on Paris is beyond the pale. He backpedalled his statement but here it is. At least he didn’t croon “You’ve got a friend”.
He based his presidential campaign in 2004 on the idea that Islamic jihad is just a nuisance. President Obama feels the same. He wants to close Gitmo and prosecute Islamic jihadists though the US court system.
President Holland feels differently. Freedom fries anyone?
Update:
This analysis by John Lloyd of Reuters says it’s not only an act of war, ISIS is an “existential threat”.
Sharm el-Sheikh Baggage
Investigators are 90% sure a bomb took down Russian Metrojet Flight 9268 in Egypt. The plane took off from the Sharm el-Sheikh resort on the Sinai peninsula. ISIS is active in the Sinai and took credit for the bombing.
Thousands British and Russian tourists stranded at Sharm el-Sheikh are being flown home without their checked baggage due to bomb fears.
House Republicans
A group of House Republicans conspired in the demise of Speaker John Boehner. They thought he was ineffective. Unfortunately their replacement Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, was even more ineffective. He committed a gaffe that fit the Democrat’s narrative that the Benghazi hearings were all about destroying Hillary.
House Republicans
So they had to whack him too.
Gun Control
President Obama is big on collectives. He thinks that, since we didn’t pass his gun control legislation, we are “collectively responsible” for those shot and killed at a community college in Oregon. He’s getting pretty darned tired of having to point this out every time there’s a mass shooting. Jacob Sullum at Reason is getting pretty darned tired of explaining why this makes no sense.
Last weekend in Obama’s adopted hometown Chicago 14 people were shot, 6 were killed. Chicago has the gun control laws the president says we need.
