FBI and IRS Tea Party

140116-irs-fbi-tea-partyBack in June a House committee wanted answers about IRS efforts to indimidate and silence Tea Party Groups. Lois Lerner, the IRS Director of Exempt Organizations took the fifth. There was very little Tea Party involvement in the campaign 2012 campaign. President Obama was re-elected.

The FBI has now declared “no harm no foul”, as Dan Henninger puts it.

Thus, two of the most powerful public institutions in the U.S.—the FBI and the IRS—have concluded no harm, no foul, and the memory hole swallows the Obama administration’s successful kneecapping of the GOP’s most active members just as they prepared to participate in the 2012 presidential campaign. Many—ruined or terrified by the IRS probes—shut down. Mr. Obama won.

Christie Bridges Differences

140110-christie-bridge-mayorGovernor Chris Christie couldn’t sleep. He woke up to the nightmare that members of his staff had tied up traffic on the George Washington bridge because the mayor of Fort Lee, NJ. had failed to endorse him. He says he was completely in the dark.

Christie Bridges Differences with Mayor

If he runs for president, Christie is expected to campaign against just that sort of fat cat abuse of government power. He apologized to the little people and the mayor in a two your press conference.

The Obama administration got into the act by letting it be known a US attorney is investigating. Speaking of abuse of power the WSJ says:

compared to using the IRS against political opponents during an election campaign, closing traffic lanes for four days is jaywalking.

Nuclear Option

131121-nuclear-optionHarry Reid pulled the trigger on the so-called Nuclear Option on Thursday. The move changed a 200 year old rule that allowed filibusters against presidential appointments. Now the Senate can confirm nominees with a simple majority. That can happen with a straight party line vote – the same way ObamaCare was passed.

As usual, hypocrisy is non-partisan here. The Republicans threatened the same thing when President Bush was having trouble getting his judicial nominations confirmed in the Senate.

Nuclear Option

Here are some strong arguments against the Nuclear Option – from Harry Reid, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden.

Pottery Barn Rules for Health Care

131101 Pottery Barn Rules for Health Care

Back when George W Bush was putting together his coalition of the willing, to kill people and break stuff in Iraq, Colin Powell warned they were under Pottery Barn rules: you break it you own it.

It appears that Democrats have broken the health care system. They transformed it by cramming through the Affordable Care Act, under special rules, on a Christmas Eve, with a completely partisan vote, featuring Cornhusker Kickbacks and Louisiana Purchases. Now the thing doesn’t work.

Pottery Barn Rules

Rich Lowry says that rather than try to help fix it, Republicans should let them own it.
