Furious
Operation Fast and Furious should make you furious. Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms ran a gun running program into Mexico. They expected the guns to lead them to Mexican drug kingpins. One of those guns was used to murder border agent Brian Terry in Arizona.
Ten million dollars for Project Gun Runner, the parent of Fast and Furious, was included in the stimulus bill. Guess you really do need to read the bill to find out what’s in it.
For an additional amount for ‘State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner.
Media Matters, which is to Fox News as Hamas is to Israel, disputes this. They claim the money wasn’t spent in Arizona so it’s all a Fox Fib.
Presser
The president’s press conference ran about an hour today. It seemed like each answer ran that long. The thrust was 1.) the Republicans better do their job and raise taxes and 2.) Malia and Sasha are more responsible than Congress. Number 2 I agree with.
Twitter Flasher
Turns out Weiner did send those naughty bit pics. Pathetic but not as pathetic as 2000 page bills nobody reads.
Divestiture
In the most lopsided trinket deal since the Indians sold Manhattan, Jim “The Vest” Tressel lost his 3.5 million dollar a year job as head coach of the The Ohio State University amateur football enterprise.
Tressel was tasked with policing the economic activities of the concern’s players. By fiat, the players’ incomes are restricted to the value of athletic scholarships plus bonuses, paid in trinkets. An uncertain number of players chose to liquidate those bonuses at a tattoo exchange. Others may be guilty of capturing market value for their services in the form of discounted auto sales. Having learned of the unauthorized economic activity, Tressel failed to report it to the controlling authorities. He was dismissed.
