John Dean No Rosemary Woods
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler thought it would be a good idea to have John Dean testify about Watergate. And John Dean was happy to oblige. After all, he may be a convicted felon but he’s no chicken – or Rosemary Woods.
But he did say that Russiagate was just like Watergate, only worse.
However, unfortunately for Chairman Nadler, the media spent most of the day covering a helicopter crash in New York City.
Really Big Big Loser, Everyone Agrees
The NYT got hold of Trump’s tax returns from 1985-94. He lost $1.17 billion.
Big Big Loser
It’s not fake news but it may not really be news at all. In fact Trump bragged about it at the time, and wrote a book. Probably only really lost a billion.
On-Line Cartoon Auction
Speaking of free speech, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press is hosting an auction of original cartoon art from 20 cartoonists. These are equal opportunity offenders including Rob Rogers, the guy who was fired for his Trump cartoons at the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, and Steve Kelley, the guy who replaced him. There are even a couple by me – and I don’t want to have to buy ’em.
The money goes to the support of one of the few things I hope we can all agree on – free speech. Please take a look at http://bit.ly/Cartoons2019.
Banned on Facebook
Various bad actors were banned on Facebook last week. The list includes conspiracy theorist nut jobs like Alex Jones and Louis Farrakhan.
Fired FBI chief Andrew McCabe thinks President Trump is a Russian asset. But he didn’t make the bad actor cut.
Jack Shafer in Politico says, “free speech took a whacking Thursday.” He says there are better ways to deal with the likes of Alex Jones.
