Fourth of July Nothing Burger

nothing burger

Republicans still haven’t repealed or replaced ObamaCare. And the Democrats’ Trump/Russian collusion narrative so far is a big nothing burger.

Here’s a Cleveland Plain Dealer hot dog ranking. No word on the best nothing burgers.

Check it Out

A New York Post headline called CNN The Most Busted Name in News.

As they say, “check it out.”

The Daily Caller published a litany of woe, calling it the network’s “month long nightmare.”

Project Veritas’s undercover sting reporter James O’Keefe managed to catch a CNN health and medical beat producer calling the network’s coverage of Trump “bullshit.” He still has his job. But three other CNN Journalists lost theirs. They were fired when a story about a Trump connection to a Russian investment fund was retracted.

The discredited “dossier” in the cartoon refers to a former British spy’s opposition research against candidate Trump. One of his more lurid claims was that Trump hired Russian prostitutes to perform a golden shower on a Moscow hotel bed previously occupied by Barack and Michelle Obama. BuzzFeed published the dossier and CNN was one of the first mainstream media outlets to report on the story.

Reality Show

Jeffrey Goldberg at The Atlantic says this isn’t so much about fake news. It’s about a reality TV show starring Donald Trump. And it will lead to violence. Really.

Comey Takes a Leak

leak

Turns out Comey likes to leak too. He testified to the Senate Intelligence Committee that he leaked his own memos about a meeting with Trump. The leak was in response to Trump’s tweet that Comey had better hope there are no tapes of their meeting.

Comey woke up in the middle of the night and decided to pass along the memos to a friend who then leaked them to the NYT.His goal was to sic a special prosecutor on Trump.

Mission accomplished.

Transparent Tweeter Meter

Sean Spicer says our Tweeter-in-Chief has a “direct line to the American people.”

Tweeter Meter

So, in an effort to tap that wire, The Atlantic opened a Tweet Tracker. Cute, but I would have called it a Tweet Twacker. As you’d expect, its purpose is to track Trump’s Tweets. The Tweet Tracker breaks down each presidential tweet into “The Prompt,” “The Context,” and the “The Response.”

Bull in the Swamp

dow bull

When President Trump rides high so does the stock market. The Dow Bull has surged 2,700 points since his election.

Trump and Bull Get Swamped

But as allegations from unnamed sources rise in the media, President Trump sinks in the swamp. Apparently, so does the stock market. The Dow lost 373 points on Wednesday. The experts say investors worry that if Trump goes down so will his agenda for tax cuts, less regulation, and more growth.

Most experts that is. Wharton professor Jeremy Siegel, says the market could spike 1,000 points if Trump resigns.

Update: Well, as of noon Friday the Bull has clawed back over 200 points of Wednesday’s losses. Maybe I was just looking for an excuse to draw an alligator.
