TikTok and Microsoft Art of the Deal

TikTok is a hot property. It’s the world’s 7th biggest social-media company and popular with the under 25 group. It’s also owned by Chinese company ByteDance and that’s a worry to the feds. They’re afraid China will get access to TikTok user data. And that caused President Trump to threaten to ban the app in the U.S. But along comes Microsoft with an offer buy TikTok. And now Trump wants a finders fee.

Germs Build Immunity

Germs build immunity. That’s because your body remembers pathogens. And it hates them. So when your body sees a pathogen it recognizes, it gets very upset and kills it. At least that’s how Harvard professor of microbiology Michael N. Starnbach, PhD sees it.

And if you don’t believe Dr. Starnbach, just ask George Carlin.

But how’s your body going to meet new germs if it’s holed up behind a mask in your basement? Besides that, hiding out from germs could drive you crazy.

Issues and Insights reports on a study that claims there could be 75.000 or more deaths due to the Covid-19 shutdown. It blames depression and stress.

World Health Organization and China Relationship

The World Health Organization and China seem to have an unhealthy relationship.

That is to say, it’s sort of like a pirate to parrot relationship. China speaks and the WHO repeats:

The most notorious example came in the form of a single tweet from the WHO account on January 14: “Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus.” That same day, the Wuhan Health Commission’s public bulletindeclared, “We have not found proof for human-to-human transmission.”

President Trump also has “kissing up” issues with China. For instance, on Jan 24 he had this to say:

“China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!”

Politico

Still he did restrict travel from China 5 days later – with the usual Trumpian embellishment that he did it over the objection of experts. After all, it’s not like he’s putting his name on stimulus checks. Oh wait, he is.

Anyway, last week he suspended U.S. funding for the WHO.

You may have heard that President Trump has credibility issues. Yesterday he called the WSJ fake news. The reason being that the editorial board suggested his briefings might benefit from a little more focus.

But he had a point on Tuesday when he ripped the World Health Organization for kissing up to China. Here’s Rich Lowry writing in Politico:

China committed unforgivable sins of commission, affirmatively lying about the outbreak and punishing doctors and disappearing journalists who told the truth, whereas the WHO committed sins of omission—it lacked independence and courage at a moment of great consequence.

In effect, China and the WHO worked together to expose the rest of the world to the virus, at the same time they downplayed its dangers

And, in mid-January, the World Health Organization claimed there was no proof of human to human transmission of the virus.

Trump has blood on his hands. At least that’s the way Nancy Pelosi sees it.She told Jake Tapper on State of the Union that Trump “fiddled while people died.” She also wondered rhetorically, “What Trump knew and when did he know it?”

That caused the WSJ to remark on her ability to work Nero and Nixon references into the same interview.

For his part, Trump declared a national emergency and imposed a travel ban on China on Jan. 31. Joe Biden called that move “Xenophobic.”

Jeffery Lord covers a timeline of impeachment and virus activity in The American Spectator. It’s titled The Impeachment That Killed Americans.
