Are 3D Guns Free Speech?

are 3d guns free speech

Printers aren’t just for fed funds anymore. Now you can print a gun from a 3D printer. Really. Needless to say this has the anti-gun lobby up in arms.

Of course you can’t print anything until you download the software. Obviously this is Trump’s fault. What’s next? Russian hackers emailing weapons to enemies of Hillary?

Not if Federal Judge Robert Lasnik can help it. He issued a restraining order to stop the release of electronic gun making instructions by a group called Defense Distributed.

Are 3D Guns Free Speech?

David French in National Review points out “The plaintiffs weren’t distributing guns, they were distributing information…and blocking the flow of information is a prior restraint of free speech.”

Venal Traitor Trump

Rand Paul doesn’t like former CIA Director John Brennan. And John Brennan doesn’t like a lot people. Especially Donald Trump.

Here’s Brennan letting us know how he feels about the Venal Traitor Trump in his own tweets:

The “dustbin of history” crack is kind of interesting because Brennan wasn’t always opposed to Russian meddling. In fact, in a youthful indiscretion at the height of the cold war in 1974, he voted for the Soviet funded American Communist Gus Hall for president.

Rand Paul thinks it’s time to yank Brennan’s national security clearance. I didn’t even know he had one. But it turns out it’s a common professional courtesy given to ex spooks.

Here’s George W. Bush’s former assistant national security advisor Elliot Abrams explaining why he kept his clearance:

Why? Because the incoming Obama White House thought that in the early months of a new administration, we might have some useful insights to impart—information about how past events had developed, or impressions of top people in foreign governments—and our successors wanted to be able to discuss classified information with us and elicit our views.

It doesn’t seem likely Brennan will be doing much consulting with the Venal Traitor Trump.

Kavanaugh Paper Trail

paper trail

President Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh has lots of experience. And that means a long paper trail. Chuck Schumer hopes to use it to blow up his nomination.

Here’s a WSJ editorial that says Schumer is trying to show Kavanaugh would have let Nixon off the hook over the Watergate tapes. (No relation to the Cohen Tapes.)

The editorial is titled Tricky Dick Schumer.

King Dollar Rate Hike

King Dollar

President Trump doesn’t want the Fed to raise interest rates. And he said so. Which is frowned on since the Fed is supposed to be independent.

It’s also awkward for Trump’s chief economic advisor Larry Kudlow, a strong advocate for a strong dollar. Or King Dollar as he likes to say.

Trump hired Kudlow in March. But in February here’s what Kudlow had to say on CNBC:

A strong dollar is an essential pillar of economic prosperity with minimal inflation, but we worry that the White House has not adopted this strategy. So we urge the Trump administration to return to the successful “King Dollar” policies that worked in the 60’s, 80’s and 90’s.

Uh oh. He went on to say:

We also worry that the recent widening trade deficit numbers will further tempt the administration into a weak dollar strategy.

Trump Apostrophe

trump apostropheWhat could have caused Trump to side with Putin against his own Intel director? President Trump claimed the U.S./Russian relationship changed for the better during a two hour closed door meeting without notes. And he denied Russia meddled in the 2016 election.

That set off a national freak out making “Our Democracy” look unhinged.

Score one for Putin.

Former CIA Director Brennan called Trump treasonous. George Will called him an “embarrassing wreck of a man.” Calmer voices said his remarks were worse than Kristallnacht and Pearl Harbor.

Trump Apostrophe

So, within a day, on the 100th anniversary of the murder of Tsar Nicholas and his family, the president caved. He misspoke. He meant to say, “I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be Russia,” rather than “why it would be Russia.”

For the want of an apostrophe…
