Defunding the Police in the Land of CHAZ

Defunding the police, new nation, CHAZ

Here’s a glimpse of what defunding the police looked like this week. Protesters in Seattle founded a new nation in the hood called CHAZ.

The cops ran away from Chaz without a fight. And the new national ruling elite seem to be using the abandoned police station as its capitol.

My cartoon below is an oldie from the 1999 ant-globalism protests in Seattle.

Power Politics Go Around and Come around

Power politics drove the Covid-19 crisis. Governors used police power to lock down the economy and flatten the curve. The curve flattened. But then a new crisis arrived – the police killing of George Floyd – and power shifted to a new group.

Blue states pride themselves for their liberal governors, big-city mayors, police chiefs and state attorneys general. But progressive urban bastions like Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis and Philadelphia are also the ground zero sites of arson, violence and looting, where racial relations are the worst.

Throw a brick. You’ve been through a lot this spring.

But, remember, it’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness. Oh, wait, I just looked it up and that might be a Chinese proverb. It’ll have to be quarantined.

How about this? It’s better to throw a brick at your own TV than your neighbor’s TV. What could be more American?

Could be the first step back to sanity.

Property Can be Replaced, New Ethic in Minneapolis

Property can be replaced. In fact, destroying it isn’t violence according to NYT Pulitzer Prize winner Nikole Hannah-Jones. She also thinks the country was founded in 1619.

The Minneapolis 3rd Precinct station will need to be replaced. The cop’s ran away and rioters burned it to the ground.

Officials also stood by as looters destroyed minority owned businesses. Governor Tim Walz blamed outside agitators.
