Cruz in Suspected Basketball Ring
In case you haven’t seen the Cruz Basketball Ring Speech, SB Nation has video here.
Scalia and Casey Martin
Here’s a good one from The Federalist about Scalia’s dissent in the Casey Martin case.
Martin was a disabled professional golfer who wanted to ride in a cart. The PGA rules say players must walk. The court ruled walking isn’t essential to golf and ordered the PGA to let Casey ride.
Scalia dissented. He said the rules of games are arbitrary. That’s what makes them games. He wanted to know where the court got off deciding which rules are essential?
Or something like that – Scalia was wittier.
I drew this cartoon after the court ruled Bush beat Gore in the 2000 election.
Manziel Concussion
Concussions can cause peculiar behavior. Johnny Manziel reportedly showed up in Vegas the night before the last Browns game. He wore a fake mustache, glasses and blonde wig. The Browns lost.
Mizzou Football Econ 101
Nutty professors calling for muscle weren’t the biggest story during the University of Missouri protests. The football team was.
Thirty-six hours after black players said they would strike, the president and chancellor resigned. Mizzou would have had to pay Brigham Young University a million dollars if it cancelled Saturday’s game.
Now that football players have had their consciousness raised about their economic clout, will they use it to their own benefit?
Dellavedova the Annoying
Matthew Dellavedova is the most annoying man in the world. Which is to say he is beloved in Cleveland. He has pestered league MVP Stephan Curry to distraction. Curry committed six turnovers in game 3 and is only averaging 24 points per game. The Honey Badger scored 20 of his own on Tuesday, when he wasn’t diving all over for loose balls. He didn’t stick around after the game to take accolades. He took an ambulance to Cleveland Clinic for dehydration treatment. He’ll be back tonight.
