What’s in the Bill

We really shouldn’t be surprised to find out what’s in the bill.

Edie Littlefield Sundby wrote a WSJ op-ed about the ordeal of losing her health coverage. Her insurer wasn’t a “bad apple”. UnitedHealthcare spent 1.2 million for her cancer treatment. The op-ed went viral.

The journal has an editorial today suggesting that the purpose of ObamaCare is that everyone gets equal care, not 1.2 million in cancer treatment. Sounds like Edie should just take the painkiller.

Pottery Barn Rules for Health Care

131101 Pottery Barn Rules for Health Care

Back when George W Bush was putting together his coalition of the willing, to kill people and break stuff in Iraq, Colin Powell warned they were under Pottery Barn rules: you break it you own it.

It appears that Democrats have broken the health care system. They transformed it by cramming through the Affordable Care Act, under special rules, on a Christmas Eve, with a completely partisan vote, featuring Cornhusker Kickbacks and Louisiana Purchases. Now the thing doesn’t work.

Rich Lowry says that rather than try to help fix it, Republicans should let them own it.

World Series Facial Grooming

Was looking for a distraction so I switched from Health.gov to the World Series. Being skilled at distraction, my attention drifted from the game to the elaborate facial grooming of the Red Sox players. It went way beyond the fuzz, stubble. and occasional handlebar you expect to see.

So I came up with this.

The cartoon had a caption but one admirer gushed, “it’s so insanely stupid it doesn’t need a caption”.

So, I shaved it.

Slates Amanda Hess grades the growth here.

Tea Party and Donkey Tracks

President Obama focused blame on Republican responsibility for refusing to raise the ceiling on irresponsible spending. The Tea Party made a brave stand but in the end got stomped.

Update:

I like cartoons that work without words – other than the ones on the flag in this case. Also, I think it’s funnier when a cartoon implies an event that has already happened and the reader gets the punchline when he or she recognizes it.

ObamaCare Failure

Washington Post blogger Ezra Klein, a supporter of ObamaCare, called the launch a big failure.

And Forbes says, “ObamaCare’s website is crashing because it doesn’t want you to know how costly its plans are.”

ObamaCare Failure

According to the WSJ, “The failures that have all but disabled ObamaCare are the result of deliberate political choices, which HHS and the White House are compounding with secrecy and stonewalling.”
