Cliven Bundy Steps in It
Just when Cliven Bundy was generating sympathy for standing up to the man he opened his mouth and stepped in it
Crazy Cliven’s cows graze on on federal grass and he hasn’t paid the bill for 20 years. That makes him sort of a welfare queen of the range. Which is why it was surprising to hear him talking about “negroes” on government subsidy. Here he is in his own words:
Fort Hood II
Fort Hood is a place where returning soldiers are reunited with their families. The military prefers not to turn it into an armed camp. It seems weird that a military base like Fort Hood would be a soft target full of unarmed potential victims for crazed gunmen.
Fort Hood II Shooter
The Fort Hood II shooter seemed nuts enough to me but Mona Charen makes an interesting case that this particular crazed gunman wasn’t all that crazy. Just angry:
Yet, unlike the gunmen in the other recent mass attacks, Lopez seems to have been sane. He was a married father of four and apparently close to his family of origin in Puerto Rico. He had been distraught by the recent death of his mother and apparently extremely angry with the military for delaying his leave to attend the funeral.
Ironically, Lopez had commented on his Facebook page about Adam Lanza, the Newtown murderer, writing: Lanza “pretends to be a victim of a mental illness followed by addiction to violent video games.” He continued, “It is stupid to me that anyone can have easy access to a powerful weapon without being mentally evaluated. This makes the government indirect accomplice … These bastards have perfected their way of attacking studying previous massacres to gain publicity and their minute of fame as a villain. But thanks to Hollywood and the sensational profiling by the media (they) give more power to those intelligent cowards.”
Where Does Wendy Stand?
Wendy Davis became famous for her pink running shoe filibuster in the Texas assembly. She was trying to stop the passage of a law to ban abortion after 20 weeks and require higher standards for abortion clinics. She claimed ignorance of the Gosnell case.
A national “Stand With Wendy” campaign erupted among the pro abortion crowd.
Wendy cashed in on her fame to run for governor. But her campaign took on water when Wayne Slater reported on her resume in the Dallas Morning News. Now she’s trying to right her ship by standing with the abortion limiting views she filibustered.
Sochi Spy Swap
There will be no Sochi Spy Swap for Edward Snowden.
Senator Mark Warner wants to deport Justin Bieber to Canada. He could go to jail. Pussy Riot has already been there.
Pussy Rioters served Russian prison time for protesting President Putin’s human rights record. That and desecrating a church. In Bieber’s case it would be for assaulting his limo driver. Or for assaulting his jet pilot with second hand pot smoke.
No Sochi Spy Swap but Snowden Welcome
Putin says Edward Snowden is welcome to attend the Sochi Olympics. Pussy Riot, not so much.
I meant to include a shirtless Putin but ran out of room.
Chris Christie Tied Up
Chris Christie and his political ambitions are tied up right now. A lawyer for the guy responsible for the infamous closing of the lanes on the George Washington bridge says Christie knew about the stunt.
Christie’s campaign committee wants permission to spend $127,000 left over from its $12 million binge to re-elect the governor. The campaign says it needs that money, and more, for legal defense against subpoenas issued by US prosecutors.
After parsing the slippery “meaning of is” language used by both Christie and the lawyer in the bridge case, The Washington Examiner says the bombshell could be a dud.
Update:
Politico reports on a Christie email criticizing the New York Times and David Wildstein (the guy responsible for the bridge lane closing).
