War on Isis
On Friday President Obama acknowledged, to Stars and Stripes, three military deaths in Iraq despite his pledge to end war. I planned to draw a cartoon honoring American war dead for Memorial Day. But it kind of morphed into a cartoon about the war living.
Daily Beast reported American Special Forces, wearing Kurdish insignia, were photographed in Syria 18 miles from Raqqa, the ISIS capitol . Meanwhile, the U.S. is providing air support in a difficult Iraqi campaign to liberate Fallujah, again.
Mickey Mouse VA
VA Secretary Bob McDonald is ok with long lines.
“When you go to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important?” “What’s important is what’s your satisfaction with the experience?”
When it comes to the government Daniel Henninger, in the WSJ, thinks the experience is mostly Mickey Mouse.
Last Tango in Brussels
President Obama’s been dancing around the Islamic terror threat. He doesn’t want to take the lead. He says the threat isn’t “existential” and more people die in bathtub accidents.
He danced the Tango after the Brussels attacks. He played golf after James Foley was beheaded. John Kerry sent James Taylor to Paris to sing you got a friend after the Charlie Hebdo attacks.
While ISIS is losing ground in the Middle East the WSJ reports interlocking terror cells are growing throughout Europe.
Terror Wave
President Obama did the wave at a baseball game in Cuba while a terror wave swept Belgium. Last night he tangoed in Buenos Aires. A round of golf would give him a hat trick of indifference to terrorism.
He feels ISIS can only win if it knocks him off his game.
That and he’s just not that into terrorism. According to the WSJ, he says more Americans are killed by gun violence than terrorism. He’s more worried about the weather.
By Obama’s lights the Vietnam War was no big deal. In 1968, the deadliest year of the war, 16,899 Americans died in Vietnam. That same year 53,831 died on American highways.
Moderate Missiles From Iran
Joe Biden had an interesting two day visit to Israel. A Palestinian terrorist stabbed and killed an American student near a beach where Mrs. Biden was dining. Meanwhile Iran tested fired two ballistic missiles.
The missiles have a range of over 1000 miles. At its nearest point, Israel is 600 miles away. The missiles were hand inscribed in Hebrew with the words “Israel must be wiped out.”
Moderate Missiles
In December Iran fired rockets near the U.S. aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman in the Strait of Hormuz. In January Iran detained U.S. sailors and humiliated them on national television.
Vox gave the the Obama nuke deal a shout-out for bringing moderates to power in Iran.
