Harvey Weinstein Revelation

weinstein revelation

Meryl Streep is shocked shocked by the Harvey Weinstein revelation. She reached out to the Huffington Post to call his behavior “disgraceful, inexcusable, and an abuse of power.”

In 2012 she called him “God.”

Hillary Clinton is shocked shocked too. And “appalled“. Weinstein has helped raise $1.5 million for Democratic candidates.

Weinstein Revelation

Holman Jenkins in the WSJ says Harvey is warning the Hollywood liberal elite that his problems are their problems:

He was a guest at the Obama White House 13 times. He gave hundreds of thousands to the Clintons. In 2016, he hosted or headlined multiple fundraisers for Mrs. Clinton with people like Leonardo DiCaprio, Helen Mirren, Julia Roberts and Sarah Jessica Parker.

What Difference Does It Make?

what difference does it make

I thought about labeling the guy in the foreground Charles Woods. He’s the father of Tyrone Woods, the the security contractor killed defending the CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya.

But then I wondered, at this point, what difference does it make?

What Difference Does it Make?

Hillary lied to Mr. Woods that his son was killed a mob angry about a movie. Sort of like throwing rotten tomatoes, only using grenade launchers instead.

Here’s Mark Steyn’s 9/11 Benghazi anniversary review of the movie 13 Hours.

Fake Oscars

oscars

Payback was hell at the Oscars. Variety pins the blame on a PricewaterhouseCoopers executive named Brian Cullinan. But I suspect Russian hackers.

Trump Media Relations

media relations

Media relations with President Trump hit a new low when he dubbed the press the enemy of the American People. Last August The Atlantic compared Trump’s authoritarian tendencies to the rise of Mussolini. And two days after the election in November the New Republic claimed Trump was already acting like an authoritarian.

But National Review says he’s less authoritarian than Obama.

Vox says authoritarian states ain’t so bad.

USO Camp Trip

Team-KukwaitWelcome to Team Kuwait. I spent the dying days of August with the guys above drawing service men and women in Kuwait, Djibouti, and Incerlik Air Base in Turkey. The trip was sponsored by USO. The picture above was provided by our fearless leader Bruce Higdon. Bruce is a great punster, cartoonist, and former army colonel. Not that we would follow him into battle.

USO

Left to right: Illustrator and Disney animator Chad Frye, Eddie Pittman of Phinneas and Ferb fame, Paul Combs a fire fighting editorial cartoonist (he’s a real fireman), Sam Viviano art director of Mad Magazine and caretaker of Alfred E. Nueman and Spy vs. Spy, the guy in the middle is Col. Bruce, Rick Kirkman draws the comic strip Baby Blues and came up with the name Wanda for the lead character because he thought it was funny – that’s my mother’s name, Ed Steckley a Mad contributor and Mad Men advertising artist in New York City, Michael Ramirez a fire breathing 2 time Pulitzer winning IBD editorial cartoonist, in full battle dress for some reason, dork at the end – me.

The two happy guys at the top own all the oil.

djibuti-drawingThe trip was a hit with the troops and their families and rewarding for us.

They shouldn’t have let us into the Chief Petty Officers Club. We drew on the walls (note Alfred E. Neuman’s head peering over the guy on the far right).

gallows

We like gallows humor but this is a real gallows outside the base in Djibouti.
