Individual Insurance Mandate

131029 individual insurance mandate

A Washington Examiner poll shows that 70% of Americans want to delay the individual mandate to buy Obama approved health care. The other 30% are insurance companies. Just kidding.

But Bloomberg does report that insurance companies are absolutely positively opposed to any delay in the mandate.

Update: Here’s an IBD piece explaining how insurance companies jumped in bed with ObamaCare to produce 30 million new customers. And then got blamed as “bad apples” for canceling policies Obama doesn’t like.

Unhappy Saudis

I don’t think it’s because he listens to their phone calls (though he probably does), but the dependably ungrateful Saudis have had it with Obama.

They think he abandoned Mubarak, is going wobbly on Iran, and is gutless on Syria. Besides that, despite all his best efforts, Obama has more oil than they do. Basically they don’t trust the guy.

The WSJ’s Daniel Henninger deals with this, and more, in a column “Obama’s Credibility is Melting”.

Health Care Horror Story

131026 health care horror storyThe worms turn in the health care horror story. The president says ObamaCare isn’t just a website. He’s right. The problems go much deeper. Ezra Klein explains here.

The horror continues with the pitchman-in-chief’s claim that “if you like your doctor and your insurance – you can keep it”. The Daily Caller says more people have had their insurance cancelled than have signed up for ObamaCare. Florida Blue Cross cut 300,00 and Kaiser Permanente whacked 160,000 in California.

Health Care Horror Warranty

Now along comes Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson with a new bill to hold the government to its warranty. He calls it the “If You Like Your Health Plan You Can Keep it Act“.

Government Glitch

Healthcare isn’t the only government operation with a glitch or two.

Last week shoppers cleared the shelves of a Walmart when the store allowed the use of EBTcards that showed no balance limits due to a computer glitch. When the glitch was fixed and the card balances appeared, the shoppers dashed leaving behind carts full of merchandise.

Tea Party and Donkey Tracks

President Obama focused blame on Republican responsibility for refusing to raise the ceiling on irresponsible spending. The Tea Party made a brave stand but in the end got stomped.

Update:

I like cartoons that work without words – other than the ones on the flag in this case. Also, I think it’s funnier when a cartoon implies an event that has already happened and the reader gets the punchline when he or she recognizes it.
