Trump Investigations
Predicted waves of blue or red didn’t break on election day. Republicans extended their hold on the Senate by a seat or two but lost control of the House. That could mean more Trump investigations. And that might be enough to cause the president a little sea sickness.
He warned House Democrats against a “war-like” posture. But a peaceful Pelosi says impeachment isn’t in the cards.
Election Day House Keeping
It’s election day house keeping time. Nancy Pelosi guarantees victory. But Mike Pence says, not in our House. We’ll soon see.
Return to Civility
According to Rasmussen Voters disagree with Hillary’s endorsement of incivility while Republicans are in control.
Return to Civility
But, “unlike her, they don’t expect a return to civility if Democrats return to power in Congress.”
Roughing The Justice
Daniel Henninger says half the Senate Judiciary Committee created a new legal standard – “I believe Christine.”
This new standard for court nominees (and surely others in and outside politics) would be that judgment can be rendered in the absence of substantive argument or any legal standard relating to corroboration, cross-examination or presumption of innocence.
And Andrew McCarthy claims, “The real objective was not to destroy Kavanaugh but to convey what Democrats have in store for any conservative who seeks high public office.”
But you don’t have to be a conservative running for high office. Here’s a woman accusing a little boy of sexually assaulting her when he walked by with his mom.
The little boy was crying and couldn’t say if he was conservative or liberal.
Rough Justice
Christine Basley Ford sent a letter to Senator Diane Feinstein claiming Brett Kauvanough assaulted her when they were both in high school. Senator Feinstein held the letter for six weeks. And then, when it looked like Kavanaugh might be confirmed to the Supreme Court, someone leaked the letter to the media.
Rough Justice
So, despite her fear of flying, Dr. Ford flew to Washington to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee. She seemed sincere but was unable to remember when or where the assault took place. Nor could she remember how she got there or returned home. And none of the eyewitnesses she named could corroborate her story.
