I received a Chip Bok email broadcast from an acquaintance: “I won’t allow the half of Americans who pay no taxes to bear the burden…”
It doesn’t make any sense. The “half” of Americans who pay NO taxes are elderly, unemployed, underemployed (earn less than minimum taxable income) or evade taxes – in illegal status so don’t count as not owing to tax base. So how can they be expected to share in the “fair” tax burden of the 1% who haven’t paid their fair share since 1980 – and it is ONLY 1%, there is no “half” of Americans who aren’t paying their fair share and I have never heard anyone allege there is. So where does this guy get this nonsense from? And why put words in someone’s mouth they would not think, say or allege? Does that make it fun/funny? How? Humor is based on the unexpected irony, inconsistency, or whim of REALITY.
