The Russian Nuclear firm Rosatom bought Canadian mining company Uranium One in 2010. The deal gave Putin control over 20% of the U.S. Uranium supply.
The Hill reported last week that the FBI knew that Russian nuclear officials were involved in racketeering schemes in the U.S. prior to the purchase. The Russians had also directed millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation and paid Bill Clinton hundreds of thousands in speaking fees.
Robert Mueller was FBI Director when the probe of possible Russian collusion on nukes began in 2009 and James Comey was director when it ended in 2015.
Meanwhile, Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State Clinton both sat on a committee that approved the Uranium One deal in 2010.
Mark Steyn’s reaction: “Fancy that! A racketeering scheme centered on the Clintons! Who’da thunk it?”
Unlike the current “Russia investigation”, where details of dawn raids on Paul Manafort are gaily leaked hither and yon, Mueller and Comey managed to keep the lid on this one for the six-plus years it was active. And happily it doesn’t seem to have obstructed either the Clintons’ or the Russians’ mutually beneficial relationship.
Hillary says this is all a bunch of baloney.
NBC reported that Secretary of State Tillerson called President Trump a moron. Trump called NBC “fake news”.
The Moron Thing
Tillerson strongly denied that he ever threatened to resign.
But what about the moron thing?
President Trump met with Russian President Putin for over two hours at the G-20 Summit in Hamburg. Secretary of State Tillerson says they had a “robust exchange“, and that Trump pushed Putin about interference in our election.
Maybe. Who knows what really goes on behind closed doors?
But I think they pounded shots of vodka and colluded about collusion.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson warned North Korea that its missile testing could have catastrophic consequences. So they shot off another one. It blew up. Just like three other unsuccessful launches in a row since March.
Not that anyone asked, but Director Comey assured us the FBI is not overrun by weasels.
Members of Congress needed assurances after last Friday’s FBI document dump. The dumped documents revealed that Clinton consiglieri Cheryl Mills sat in on Hillary Clinton’s FBI interview. Mills listened along with eight other lawyers while Hillary was questioned about her private email server. Mills is also a witness in that case. Legal experts say that’s unusual because it gives attorney/client protection to her communications with Hillary.
And the Justice Department gave her immunity anyway.
No Weasels Here
Committee Chair Trey Gowdy, a respected former federal prosecutor himself, says this isn’t the FBI he remembers.
When you have five immunity agreements and no prosecutions, when you are allowing witnesses who happen to be lawyers who happen to be targets to sit in on an interview — that is not the FBI that I used to work with.“
Comey sputtered that it is so.
“I hope, someday, when this political craziness is over, you’ll look back again on this, because this is the FBI you know and love,” the Bureau’s director told Gowdy. “This was done by pros, in the right way. That’s the part I have no patience with.”
And he insisted “We are not weasels.”
